About Me
My name is Barbara Gorman and I have 2 children, Ashley - 18, Andrew - 14, and a step-daughter, Alyssa - 20. I have been married for 18 years to my supportive husband (and awesome labor coach) Pat. Both of our children were born at home with a midwife.
My mother became a childbirth educator when I was a toddler, so I have heard about birth since I was about 2 years old. I even got to witness my brother’s birth when I was 7. I enjoyed it so much that about 15 minutes after he was born, I told my mom, “That was fun! Let’s do that again!” I guess that was when my fascination with the birth process began.
I became a natural childbirth educator in 2006 and I’ve attended over 50 births, some as a doula and some as a midwife assistant. My heart is to teach people to trust a woman’s body to do what it was created to do, and as you learn more about the process, be less afraid. Birth can be an amazingly empowering time in a woman’s life. I consider it a great honor to play any part in that time in your lives.
